About Me

Hi, welcome to my portfolio! My name is Andrew Sylvester,  I'm a game programmer and recent computer science graduate from The University of Texas at Dallas. I currently work as a developer at a small Unity contracting studio called The Devhouse Agency.

During my time in college, I was an active officer of the Student Game Developer Association. I also had the opportunity to be a part of my school's Game Production Lab, a course centered around simulating the industry pipeline and providing the freedom for students to create a game of our choice. For the first two semesters I served as a programmer for the detective game Friday and 3D platformer Jetpack Penguin. For two other semesters, I had the opportunity to serve as the lead programmer on the rouge-lite Drosera and first-person puzzle game Telemancer. Before these projects I have experience extending back to high school with my first major project Operation Tiamat.

Outside of school and work, I've spent a lot of time developing my own games. I spent about 6-8 months last year working on a solo project to prototype a custom made first person character controller. The goal was to make a FPS controller that feels as good as possible and to explore many personal favorite movement abilities. Additionally, I've been working with a partner on a puzzle versus game for over a year now.

When I'm not enjoying working on games or doing school work you can find me either playing tabletop rpgs with friends or trying to become competitively competent at fighting games.
